Sussex Petanque held the first of their series of Championship events on Sunday 25th June at Crowborough Social Club. The club hosted the 2017 Sussex Doubles and part 1 of the Sussex Shooting Championships.
The weather was kind and thanks go to everyone who helped set up the terrain, those who helped set up and run the Shooting Championships and those that helped with all the paperwork. It was also great to have a couple of new players taking part this year in the form of Brian & Lyn Chegwidden.
In one of the best and most closely contested SXP Finals seen for some time Adam Barclay & Tony Mann beat Jeff Mitchell & Matt Shrimpton 13-12. Both teams will represent Sussex at the EPA Champion of Champions Doubles at Oxshott PC on Sat 7th October.
In the Shooting Championships our early leader is Peter May with a very respectable score of 21. Anyone who hasn't yet taken part in the Shooting can do so at our forthcoming Sussex Triples on Sun 16th July.
